I have been thinking about whether or not I can really save money by switching to satellite. Right now I get my tv service and broadband internet from Time Warner, which does not really please me all that much. I got this sort of deal, http://www.cable-tv.com/comcast/alabama/decatur/. In fact I am very irritated with them over recent technical problems. This does not effect the TV’s which are not hooked up to the digital cable boxes, but those TV’s mostly only get SD channels. After you spend about 800 dollars on a really great big screen with 1080p resolution, well you really do not want to watch TV the way you did when you were a little kid and you were watching re runs of I love Lucy and Gilligan’s Island on a 13 inch Black and White TV. At any rate this stuff looks like it is windy and the wind is knocking the satellite off the signal I guess, at least when it is mind. At that point the signal is just skipping. So for instance you can not understand the commentary on a ball game and it is hard to follow the action.
The other night this stuff sort of came to a head. I wanted to watch a ball game, but the channel I wanted to watch, the ESPN U channel, had this message on it saying that it was not available. I checked and I was getting like 5 channels in total. All of them were doing the skipping stuff. Then my Internet went out. I called them up and tried to get them to fix it. They started talking about scheduling a service call. Of course this continued for around 12 hours and more. I guess the Internet came back on at around 9 AM the next morning. The TV has been fine since, but I am still mad.
